Weekly Sketch

This is my sketch of Leadbelly, the folk and blues musician. 🎸 My cousin asked me to sketch it so that when he opens up his restaurant, he can hang it up on the wall. 🍴 I framed it and sent it to him. 📬

This is my first commissioned sketch. 💵  I got it done just in time before Hurricane Irma starts to affect the weather in my area on Sunday. 🌊🌀

1995

Today I finished my drawing of O.J. Simpson.  Watching his parole hearing last week brought back so many memories of where I was, and what I was doing during his trial in 1995.  💭

I was listening to the Masters Tournament on the radio over the past weekend, and thinking about how much I missed watching Tiger Woods play.  Since today is the 20th anniversary of Tiger’s first Masters win, I decided to sketch a picture of him.  It sure would be great to see him win another one!

Daily Sketch

On this day in 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot in an assassination attempt by John Hinckley Jr.  I always thought it was interesting that John Hinckley Jr. was found not guilty by reason of insanity due to his obsession with Jodie Foster and the 1976 movie Taxi Driver.   President Reagan, who was 70 years old at the time, walked into George Washington Hospital after being shot once in his left lung and survived the attack.

Today’s sketch is of Earvin “Magic” Johnson, one of my favorite basketball players of all time.  On this day in 1979 he led the Michigan State Spartans to a victory over Larry Bird’s Indiana State Sycamores in the NCAA men’s basketball championship game.
